Mindful Tourism in the Eastern Himalayas
In the verdant depths of the Eastern Himalayas along the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra, lies the biodiverse haven of the Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark in residence at Wild Mahseer. Nurtured and crafted by a unique blend of people and local communities, the heritage property is dotted with 75+ species of birds, 72+ species of butterflies, 100,000+ species of plants and other wild animals. A reflection of the lifestyle of colonial tea planters, Wild Mahseer has five independent bungalows ingeniously named after varieties of tea and carefully maintained to preserve the colonial tea heritage.
The World Health Organization has qualified Tezpur as the Lungs of India with the cleanest air in the country. Located 25kms away, Wild Mahseer has significantly lower air pollution because of a carbon sink of 1,00,000+ plants generating pure Oxygen, which can provide a respite from the smog of cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kanpur, Lucknow, etc.
A visit to Wild Mahseer offers a rich bouquet of cultural and natural experiences such as homestays with local communities of the Eastern Himalayas such as Garo, Nyishi and Bodo, tea tourism through tea garden visits, factory tours and tea tasting, jungle bathing in the verdant forests within the Ark and close by, adventure tourism at the World Heritage site of Kaziranga National Park, Nameri National Park, Dolphin watching and river rafting on the glorious Brahmaputra.
